Letting them hang: GoTopless Day (NSFW)

posted in Photography on Aug 26, 2012 This is definitely a man wearing a bra.

Occasionally, you catch wind of an event of such magnitude in your city that you know will change EVERYTHING FOREVER. Other times you hear about some people doing a topless march and demonstration in front of the White House. Here are a few photos of that second scenario.

There are naughty bits in these photos, so watch out.

Until last night, I had no real plans of going and watching the proceedings, but a friend from college happened to be in town this weekend and wanted to meet up. They had never been to the White House, so voila! Two birds, etc. etc.

The story behind the protest is basically that there is a group who believe that women should be allowed to walk around town topless just like men. In many cities this is already possible (DC is one of them), but it’s not a national thing. Also, they might be linked with some people who think aliens came and made humans. So that’s cool, I suppose.

The parade came in from northwest of the White House down through Lafayette Square and rallied for a few minutes in the park before crossing the street and marching in a circle near the White House fence. They shouted a few rally cries as they marched, and as far as we could tell, that was about it. I saw a couple of video cameras, but only one that looked like a news camera, although I could not tell from what station it might be from.

The weather started to turn, and rain began to fall. I am with the understanding that there was supposed to be a show of some sort after the period of marching, but when the rain started we decided to move on. I do not know if any topless policy was changed today, but good luck, topless ladies. Good luck.
