Need Ideas
posted in Miscellaneous on Feb 22, 2008I’m thinking about starting a cooking show. Yep. As most of you know, I don’t know how to cook squat, so I think having a show all about the cooking will be not only beneficial for my upbringing as an adult but also for the enjoyment of all. This is all in the preliminary stages, but I’m thinking that it could end up being a pretty awesome show, and I’m not just saying that (like I would with Pressed & Bound because we all know it stinks; j/k). I actually just bought two wireless mics for Pressed & Bound to clear up the hissy audio. There’s only so much I can take! A singular laptop mic does not good audio make. I’m really hoping that I’ll be able to get those mics for the next show, but I doubt they’ll be in in time.
As far as the cooking show, though, the entire idea stemmed from a video I made earlier this year for an online scavenger hunt. The thing that I had to do was eat a PB & T sandwich (peanut butter and tuna). It really wasn’t that bad, to be honest. Because it was online, there had to be proof that it was done, so I made a video that was short and sweet but modeled it after a cooking show. It was really fun to make, and I’ve had the idea for a real show bouncing in my head for a while. If you’d like to see the video, click on this link here.
What I need to figure out is a better video situation. My laptop has an alright camera, but for such a show you really need some close up shots of things, so a camera would most likely be needed. I don’t necessarily have $500 or so to throw around, but I hope to soon. I have this new job and the money that’s coming in seems to be going out just as fast (or faster). I need to chill with the spending, but I really want a new camera. That’s an aside that I’m not going to address here, but I know it will be beneficial to have a good camera (for Pressed & Bound too). Hopefully soon.
Additionally, there’s a girl in my training class for my new job that used to go to a culinary arts school, so she can cook up a mean ass meal. I’m going to off her a co-spot on the show and see where that goes, but I think it’d be cool to have someone who actually knows what she’s doing. If she’s not interested (and rightfully so, I’ve known her for like 3 weeks), then I’m fine flying solo and just figuring everything out, but I think it’d be cool to make it a two person show. Another dilemma is that I’d probably need a cameraman, otherwise I’d have to do a lot of takes to reposition the camera.
So really I’d like some input on this idea. I don’t have much worked out yet. I don’t even have a name, but I’ve been brainstorming back and forth for a while now. I think it’d be really fun.
