…Until the Unsmall Lady Sings

I don’t quite get the concept of opera. I know the medium can generate some of the most beautiful music ever and stir up many emotions. But opera is such a false representation of actual human life that it sometimes takes me right out of it. I mean, are we to believe that every europian in the 17 and 1800s just broke out into song whenever ANYTHING happens? That’s just something that I have a hard time taking in. If that’s the case, then I should be belting out some mean vibrato every time I take a dump or pee in the shower. I shouldn’t be joking about that; there’s probably an opera out there already that has just that sort of subject matter in it. So I’m going to stop now before I get sued.
