Happy Cinco de…Oh Who Cares…

posted in Miscellaneous, Past Goodness on May 5, 2003

Guess what day it is? It’s Cinco de Mayo! And you know what that means for us Americans? Absolutely nothin’. So celebrate this day with me…this Monday…this ordinary Monday that has no affect on the everyday lives of Americans…unless you’re Mexican. Because if you’re Mexican this day is for you, mis amigos. On this day in 1862, your army defeated the French in the Batalla de Puebla. That’s a good thing and all, but, I’m sorry, it couldn’t have been very hard to beat the French army. I could wave a stick with a nail stuck through it and drive back those tea drinkin’, crumpet crunchin’, hairy armpit women havin’, curled mustache wearin’ French. So to sum things up: Happy Cinco de Mayo!
